The second lotion to be rubbed in is a soft, often light blue or white soothing balm whose purpose is to reduce both pain and inflammation. The third lotion is lubricating oil. That's right. Synovial fluid is the oil your body uses to lubricate all your joints. This oil also provides the raw ingredients for the creation of cartilage. This yellow and flexible but strong "gristle" is what provides the smooth glossy surface upon which the joints can slide. It is often damaged by arthritis, and by many other factors. As your joint wiggles back and forth, the fingers of your inner healer are squeezing this clear or yellowish oil into the joint with each tiny movement of the joint, and building cartilage with it.
