Like all whose eyes are open in this trying time, I am practicing social distancing. Like many of you I don't fear this virus personally. I am at 70 an athlete and outdoors man with very healthy lung function.
But like most of you I am distancing to protect our health care workers from a tsunami of emergencies while they have too little protection. And to save our senior citizens. But while distancing is essential there are serious risks to it. This is part of the reason many Congressmen and others oppose it. First off the economy. The despair and hopelessness that accompany a descent into homelessness and starvation isn't going to be good for our immunity to disease. And it's clear that the priority of Congress is to save the poor billionaires at the expense of everyone else. Unfortunately we no longer live in a Democracy so there is little to be done here. Your government is throwing most Americans away. For this problem I recommend a military solution. Voting? No longer possible. We saw that after the "democratic" party used massive election fraud...well documented...to nominate another senile old liar in the pockets of the billionaires for president. . The solution is Military. It's why we have a second amendment. But this isn't a popular idea with the new age audience. So I'll leave it at that. But there are other dangers. It is well established in the field of Somatic therapy (Body oriented) that grief, loneliness, and loss are the most frequently stored emotions in the lungs. Loneliness is already a terrible pandemic in American society. In the 2010 census 25% of respondents voiced that they had not a single intimate friend. This is itself a formula for lung disease. To avoid the worst consequences of this nightmare it is critical to maintain loving contact with friends and family by phone or Skype. Let your friends know you care! I'm calling some today! Because I am feeling the pain now. And if you are trapped at home with the family? You are lucky to have them. Especially in the time of pandemic. Hold and cherish and be kind to them. If social distancing means stay at home Indoors then another problem emerges: For our lungs to remain strong in this pandemic we must stay active. I spend 2_5 hours a day in rigorous hiking and climbing in deserted woods. But if this isn't available...and it is becoming increasingly difficult given that public parks are closing everywhere, then you still must stay active. Crank out the old home gym equipment. Jog in place. Watch those aerobic dance videos. If you keep your lungs strong with exercise you will survive this. Social distancing works. But it is also dangerous. Be prepared.
